He was predeceased by: his parents, Robert L. Townsend, Sr. and Lilly Eveline Sheriff Townsend; his daughter Angie T. Killian; his brother Curtis Townsend; and his stepfather Herbert Messer.
He is survived by: his daughter Tammy Mathis (Skip) of Greenwood; his grandchildren, Taylen Skidmore (Hunter) of Greenwood, Cassidy James (Levi) of Abbeville and Chandler Mathis of Hickory, NC; his great grandchildren, Dylan James, Jacob James, Bentley Skidmore and Aubrey Skidmore; and his sister-in-law Jan Townsend.
