Daniel D. Danner Obituary
CW2 Daniel D. Danner, US Army (Ret.), 73, of Hopkins, died Saturday, December 12, 2020. Chief Daniel proudly served his country for more than 27 years in the US Army. He was a Vietnam War veteran and received many commendations for his bravery, including, Vietnam Service Medal with eight Service Stars, Bronze Star, and the Vietnam Cross of Gallantry just to name a few.
He was a big family man. Nothing meant more to him than them. After retirement, Chief Danner took on gardening and coin collecting as a new love until his passing. He had a wicked sense of humor and loved to laugh and make others laugh. He was truly loved by everyone that knew him. Chief Daniel was survived by his wife, Maria Danner; daughter, Alexandria " Sandy" Danner; son, Daniel Danner, Jr.; grandchildren, SGT Glen Turner, US Army, Courtney Turner and Scott Browder, Jr.; great grandson, Glen Turner, Jr.; sister, Linda Albert; as well as many nieces and nephews.
A graveside service will be held at 12 o'clock, Friday, December 18th, at Fort Jackson National Cemetery, 4170 Percival Road, Columbia, SC. All are welcome to attend; however, masks are required, and social distancing is enforced to maintain a safe environment for all. Shives Funeral Home, Trenholm Road Chapel, is assisting the family.
