We announce the death of Carl Mathis (Inman, South Carolina), who passed away on July 26, 2026, at the age of 83. Carl will be remembered by family members, friends, and others whose lives were connected in meaningful ways. He was predeceased by: his parents, Viola Mathis (Splawn) and Jesse Mathis. He is survived by: his wife Virginia Sue Mathis (Ramsey); his daughters, Cindy Gosnell (Scott) of Boiling Springs, SC, Regina McCracken of Boiling Springs, SC and Rockie Mathis of Boiling Springs, SC; his stepsons, Randy Burgess (Sharon) of Boiling Springs, SC and Dale Burgess (Stephanie) of Lexington, SC; his grandchildren, Nicki Gosnell, Stephanie Gosnell, Kyle McCracken, Lyle McCracken, Tyler McCracken, Kahne Biggerstaff and Haley Biggerstaff; and his stepgrandchildren, Shaina Ray and Jeff Burgess. He is also survived by 9 great grandchildren, and 2 great, great grandchildren.
