She was predeceased by: her parents, Eugene Scruggs and Dolly Scruggs; her husband Saye Nichols Jr.; her son William Todd Fortner; and her siblings, Gary, James, Tommy, Terry and Janice.

She is survived by: her son Jeffrey Fortner (Teresa); her grandchildren, Jennifer Fortner and William Fortner (Madi); her great grandchild Oakley; her grandchildren, Treston, Keegan, Elliana and Reign; and her sister Sylvia Deaton.

Visitation will be held on Thursday, October 15th 2026 from 12:00 PM to 1:00 PM at the Floyd's Greenlawn Chapel (2075 E Main St, Spartanburg, SC 29307). A funeral service will be held on Thursday, October 15th 2026 at 1:00 PM at the same location.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks for donations to Gibbs Cancer Center Research or Spartanburg Regional Hospice House.
