He is survived by: his mother Bernice Metts Chapman Sims; his son Jason Sheppard (Kathleen); his grandson Eric Sheppard of Belton, SC; his sister Anne Chapman Burriss; his stepsiblings, George Sims, David Sims, Susan Roden and Beth Selander; his close friend Rene Ringer; and his pet Ruby. He is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Memorials may be made to a charity of one's choice.
