He is survived by: his wife Nancy Bowman Steelman Powlas; his sons, Richard Powlas III and Nicholas Powlas Sr.; his siblings, Thomas C. Powlas (Nancy Jo) of Dickson, TN and Mary Anne Peeler of Lexington, SC; his brother-in-law David Steelman (Janie) of Elkin, NC.; his grandchildren, Tiffany Montgomery (Damien Montgomery), Andrew Powlas, Grace Powlas, Rickey Powlas IV, Nicholas Powlas II, Nathan Powlas, Trey McMillon-Bordeaux (Layla), Adam Powlas (Sarah Steele) and Anna Powlas Beline (Nick); his great grandchildren, Alivia Hodges, Damien Montgomery II, Vayda Montgomery and Adeline Montgomery; and also, Pam Powlas and Jennifer Bordeaux Powlas.
Memorials in lieu of flowers may be made to Chapin Presbyterian Church.
