He was predeceased by: his parents, George Calip and Azilee Benton Broad; and his siblings, Wilma Jackson, Carol Broad, Reverend Boyd "Buddy" Broad and Jimmy Broad.

He is survived by: his wife Sandy; his children, Richard, Tad (Robin) and Tracy Heldreth (Jud); his grandchildren, Maddie, Carter, Caleb, Sammy, Perri, Janie, Abbey, Dori and Lane; and his siblings, Col. Paul T. Broad (Becky) of Griffin, GA and Debby Frazier of Rodgersville, TN. He is also survived by nieces and nephews.
