It is with great sadness that we announce the death of James Newman (Jefferson, South Carolina), born in Bethune, South Carolina, who passed away on August 13, 2023, at the age of 89, leaving to mourn family and friends. Family and friends are welcome to leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.

He was predeceased by : his parents, William Charlie Newman and Nannie McCaskill Newman; his wife Lula Mae Jackson Newman; and his siblings, Cecil Gerald "Buster" Newman, Sara Lee Anderson, Heyward Newman, Boyd Newman, Susie Mae McGee, Alma Hilton, Roy Dale Newman, Grady G. Newman, William C. "Bill" Newman and George Nelson Newman.

He is survived by : his daughter Martha N. Mason (Joe); and his sisters, Elaine N. Hartis and Helen Catoe (Glen Reed). He is also survived by several nieces and nephews.
