He was predeceased by: his parents, Frank Wells and Mary Sue Wells; and his brother Benny Wells. He is survived by: his wife Mary Pearce Wells; his sons, John B. Wells Jr. (Tammy) and James Bennett Wells (Susan); his grandchildren, Kaitlyn, Jack (Lauren), Scott, Brandon (Sydney) and Madalyn Eades (Brandon); and his siblings, Mike Wells (Brenda), Pat Wells and Susan Yount (David). He is also survived by nieces and nephews.
