We announce the death of Shelba Clarise Catterton of Johns Island, South Carolina, who passed away on August 7, 2026, at the age of 83. Shelba will be remembered by family members, friends, and others whose lives were connected in meaningful ways. She was predeceased by: her husband Andrew "Andy" Clarence Catterton; her parents, Dolphus P. Smith, Sr. and Ruby Lee Allen Smith; her son Billy "Bubba" Hough, Jr.; and her siblings, Dolphus Smith, Jr., Kay McIntyre and Phyllis Shirley.
She is survived by: her children, Jan Buice (Johnny) of Johns Island, SC, Sherri Lero (Stephen) of James Island, SC and Richard Hough (Melissa) of Meggett, SC; her grandchildren, Shannon Buice, Kristen Hubbard (Hub), John Buice, Joseph Smith, Tyler Lero Megan (Christi), Calli Hough (Ben) and Cody Hough (Schuyler); her great grandchildren, Dixon, Madisyn, Aubrey, Frankie, Edie and Baby Cope; and her brothers, Butch Smith (Gail) of Homerville, GA and Ronnie Smith of Valdosta, GA. She is also survived by nieces and nephews.
