He was predeceased by : his parents, Luther Phillips and Mae Blocker Phillips; his son Michael Raymond Phillips; his great grandchild Blaine Tarlton; his son-in-law Donnie Outen; and his siblings, Lois Truesdale, Bill Phillips, Esther Faile, Odell Phillips and Jackie Phillips Truesdale.

He is survived by : his wife Carolyn McManus Phillips; his daughters, Sharon P. Hood (Marshall) of Heath Springs, S. C. and Kelli Phillips Turner (William) of Kershaw, S. C.; his grandchildren, Dustin Fletcher (Julianne), Anna Phillips (Guy Hoagland), Trey Thomas (Gary) and Hannah Bragdon (B. G.); his stepgrandson Rick Hood; his great grandchildren, Michael Tarlton, Abigail Bragdon and Myles Bragdon; his stepgreat-grandchildren, Colton Hood and Kylie Hood; his sisters, Mildred P. Payne of Kershaw, S. C. and Loree P. Caldwell (Larry) of Westville, S. C.; and his sister-in-law Margaret Phillips of Lancaster, S. C..
