He was predeceased by : his parents, Willie Lee Johnson and Sula Johnson; his brothers, Sammie Joe Johnson and Duke McKnight; and his son Corey James Johnson.

He is survived by : his children, Edward Cooper of Bronx, NY, Rhashay Whitfield (Maggie) of Harlem, NY and Frangetter Wallace McCrea (David); his siblings, William Johnson of Brooklyn, NY, Alice Johnson of Kingstree, SC and Delnorta Rogers of Miami, FL; and his niece Willette Johnson. He is also survived by grandchildren, nieces, nephews, relatives, and friends.
