He was predeceased by: his wife Marie M. Bruce; his brothers, Howard P. Jones II and Robert Bruce; and his parents, Robert J. Bruce and Dorothy Grimes Bruce.
He is survived by: his children, James D. Bruce of St. Petersburg, FL and Lorilynn Bruce Figueroa of Ladson, SC; and his brother Richard Bruce of Oneonta, NY.
There will be no services at this time but memorials in his name may be made to the National Kidney Foundation.
