He was predeceased by: his parents, George Leon Parnell and Estelle Brown Parnell Collins; his wife Gertrude Smith Parnell; his siblings, William Parnell, G. L. Parnell and Wilma Hendrix; and his daughter Cindy Shipman.
He is survived by: his children, Beth Parnell Rankin (Mark) of Conway, SC and Harry T. "Stoney" Parnell (Mary) of York, SC; and his close friend Linda McKay. He is also survived by six grandchildren; three great-grandchildren.
