He was predeceased by: his parents, Ernest Levi and Mary Thelma McClain Welch; his wife Martha Lee Hedgepeth Welch; and his siblings-in-law, Shirley Welch, Rosalyn Smith, Sara Hedgepeth, Buck Taylor, Harold Hedgepeth, Merle Hedgepeth and Robert Smith.
He is survived by: his children, Charles Welch (Lynn) and LeAnne Welch; his grandchildren, Lee Welch, Caroline Welch Dalton, Wyatt Plyler (Angela) and Brad Plyler; his great grandchildren, Deuce Dalton, Gloria Dalton, Michael Taylor, Isabelle Plyler and Lily Plyler; his siblings, Frances W. Taylor and Levy Welch; and his siblings-in-law, Julia Davis (Jimmie), Jimmy Hedgepeth (Barbara) and Linwood Hedgepeth (Judy). He is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
