He was predeceased by: his parents, Thomas Cecil Starnes and Alzora Bowers Starnes; his wife Carolyn Starnes; his sons, Dennis Starnes and Charles "Chucky" Starnes, Jr.; and his brother Thomas Cecil Starnes, Jr..

He is survived by: his daughter Karen Humphries (Jon); his grandchildren, Nick Starnes (Jessica), Meredith Brasington (Allan), Jonathan Humphries (Jenna), Lauran Lehman (Chris) and Kristina Ray (Dwayne); and his great grandchildren, Drake Starnes, Raegan Brasington, Landrie Brasington, Emma Lehman, Sawyer Lehman, Kasen Starnes, Fletcher Humphries and Josie-Kate Humphries.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial contributions be made as love offerings for Drake Starnes' fight against cancer.
