He was predeceased by: his parents, Richard Thomas Gowan and Roey Tennyson Gowan; his wife Sybil Gowan; his son Ricky Gowan; and his sister June Splawn.
He is survived by: his sons, Stacey Gowan and Sean Gowan; his grandchildren, Brandi Hipp (Zachary) and Tyler Gowan (Jenna); his great grandchildren, Taelor Gowan, Sybil Hipp and Easten Hipp; his daughter-in-law Sherry Gowan; and his nieces, Angela Jones and Amanda Leonardi.
Visitation was held on Friday, July 11th 2025 from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM at the Burgess Funeral Home (1800 Charlotte Hwy, Lancaster, SC 29720). A graveside service was held on Sunday, July 13th 2025 at 2:00 PM at the Holston Creek Baptist Church Cemetery (311 Holston Creek Church Rd, Inman, SC 29349).
