He was predeceased by: his parents, Hubert J. Deaton, Jr. and Eugenia L. Weissinger Deaton of Gainesville, GA; Lily M. Kay, H. R. and Ada Belle Mathewson of Lancaster.
He is survived by: his wife Patricia Ann Kay Deaton; his children, Miller Mathewson "Matt" Deaton of Murrells Inlet and Clara Deaton Reed; his son-in-law James Russell Reed of Lancaster; his son Patrick Jackson Deaton of Boiling Springs; his grandchildren, Deaton Russell Reed of Lancaster, Gaines Hunter Reed of Lancaster and Armor Jackson Deaton of Boiling Springs; and his siblings, Hubert J. Deaton III (Karen) of Great Falls, VA, Dell Whitehead (Donny) of Athens, GA, Karen Bowling (Butch) and Ann D. Medlock of Gainesville, GA. He is also survived by many loving nieces, nephews, and cousins.
