He was predeceased by: his parents, Herman Gay and Viola Hill Gay; his siblings, Billy Gay, Frankie Phillips and Margaret Boone; his parents-in-law, James and Cleo Robinson; and his sister-in-law Sandra Lambert.
He is survived by: his wife Kay Gay; his children, James Gay (Ellise), Andrew Gay (Dianely Reyes "Dee") and Amanda White (Scott); his grandchildren, Heather Gay, Hayden White, Harper White and Skylar Gay; his sister Mary Ellen Ackerman; and his siblings-in-law, Gail Plyler, Carol Gilbert and Alton Boone.
