He was predeceased by: his parents, Grady Newton and Agnes Cantrell Newton; his sons, Billy Butler, Jr. and Ronnie Butler; his brother Alfred Newton; and his granddaughter Haylee Seres.
He is survived by: his wife Lillian Chapman Newton; his children, Scott Newton (Sarah), Debbie Seres (Alan), Janice McCraw (Tom) and Linda Garland (Johnny); and his siblings, Stanley Newton (Elaine), Chris Newton (Margaret), Reba Hutchins, Barbara Dotson (Roger) and Jeanette Byrd. He is also survived by thirteen grandchildren, fourteen great grandchildren, and one great-great grandchild.
