He was predeceased by: his mother Thelma Shields; and his wife Donna Hayes Shields. He is survived by: his daughter Sandra Hyder; and his grandchildren, Elizabeth Ann Caldwell (Brad), Teleda Monic Gosnell (Trey), Katlin (Brad), Tyler (Breanna), Drake, Savanna, Conner, Aaron Hayes (Crystal) and Debbie Hayes (Bruce).
Visitation will be held on Sunday, June 22nd 2025 from 1:00 PM to 2:00 PM at the Petty Funeral Home (124 S 562, Landrum, SC 29356). A funeral service will be held on Sunday, June 22nd 2025 at 2:00 PM at the same location. A burial will be held on Sunday, June 22nd 2025 at 2:45 PM at the Evergreen Memorial Gardens (19630 Asheville Hwy, Landrum, SC 29356).
