He was predeceased by: his parents, Garlon D. Lawter and Thelma Smith Lawter; and his siblings, Mary Mann and Wayne Lawter. He is survived by: his wife Carolyn Lawter; his son David Wesley Lawter (Maribeth) of Landrum; his brother Dan Lawter (Kim) of Atlanta; and his grandsons, Liam and Lane.
A graveside service will be held on Friday, October 23rd 2026 at 2:00 PM at the Evergreen Memorial Gardens (19630 Asheville Hwy, Landrum, SC 29356).
