With solemn hearts, we announce the passing of Dean Edwards Owens in Laurens, South Carolina, born in Barnwell, South Carolina, whose presence will be deeply missed, having departed on November 9, 2024 at the age of 88. He was predeceased by: his wife Dr. Emily Trout Owens; and his parents, Jennings Allen Owens and Mary Wylodine Owens. He is survived by: his son Clay Owens; his brother Jennings Owens; his niece Judi Baxley; and his siblings-in-law, Dr. Kathy Trout, Crystal Baker, Douglas Trout and Robert Trout.

The family requests that in lieu of flowers donations be made to Riverbanks Zoo and Garden in Columbia, SC.
