Mattie Mae Crisp Obituary

Mrs. Mattie Mae Crisp quietly departed this life for the glorious ever after with her Heavenly Father on Wednesday, February 7th surrounded by family at Palmetto Richland Memorial in Columbia SC. Born Mattie Mae Lee on August 1, 1930 to the late Willie Young and Inez Lee in Laurens County; Mattie was the oldest of 4 children.

Mattie moved to Columbia with her eldest daughter Barbara. The move provided even greater access for Mattie to spend quality time with her great-grandchildren Nicholas, Mason, Chancellor, Keon, Delani, Naima, Christina, and Trey Jr. Mattie truly enjoyed spending time with her family, watching Steve Harvey, doing word searches, and laughing hysterically at the entertaining antics of her great-grandchildren.

Preceding Mattie Mae Crisp in death are: her husband Eugene Crisp, her son Michael "Mank" Crisp, stepsons Douglas and Andrew, and her sister Willie Mae Lee. She leaves to honor her memory, her beloved children: Barbara Ligon of the home; David Lee of Columbia, SC; Carolyn (Wayne) Prophett of Ridgeway, SC; Willie Crisp and Ralph Crisp of Laurens, SC and her stepdaughter Patricia (Shelton) Milner, of Fayetteville, Georgia.

In addition to her siblings, Ethel Petersen of Greenville, SC and Bennie (Anita) Lee of Tennessee; Mattie's grandchildren carry on her memory. They are: LaSonya (Gerald) Able of Ridgeway, SC; Lakeshia (Ivan) Cox of Blythewood, SC; Latwuan Crisp of Laurens SC; Keunna (Ken) Weeks of Columbia SC; Trey (Sylvia) Prophett of Columbia, SC; Shayla Crisp, Darius Crisp, Tess Crisp all of Laurens, SC; Tanya Bussey of Atlanta, GA; Ingrid Briggs of Laurens, SC; Angela Milner and Patrick Milner of Atlanta, GA; LaToya (Dwayne) Wood of Greenville, SC; and Terrance Brown of Anderson, SC; a special daughter Felicia (Arthur) Workman of Laurens; 21 great- grandchildren, numerous nieces and nephews, countless cousins including Ann Harper of Laurens, SC, and a bountiful number of friends and neighbors fortunate enough to have her in their lives Services for Ms. Mattie Mae Crisp were held Sunday, February 11, 2018 at Beaverdam Baptist Church in Enoree, SC at 2:00PM.

Reverend Catherine Cullen Evans was the officiating minister. Burial was held at the church cemetery.
