He is survived by: his wife Sharon Edwards Fortney; his children, John Scott (Erika) of Honea Path and Jennifer Stone of Rocky Mount, NC; his daughter-in-law Candi Scott of Anderson; his brother Danny Fortney (Cynthia) of Clinton; and his grandchildren, Elise Scott, Kinsey Scott, Ansley Scott, Colton Scott, Eli Stone and John Wilgus Stone.
Visitation will be held on Tuesday, September 30th 2025 from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM at the Gray Funeral Home of Laurens (500 W Main St, Laurens, SC 29360). A funeral service will be held on Wednesday, October 1st 2025 at 2:00 PM at the Redemption Baptist Church (24314 US-221, Enoree, SC 29335). A burial will be held on Wednesday, October 1st 2025 at 3:00 PM at the Forest Lawn Cemetery (765 E Main St, Laurens, SC 29360).
