He was predeceased by: his parents, Abraham Sr. Leaphart and Panzie Leaphart; his daughter Vanessa Jean Leaphart; his siblings, Mary Ellen, William (Walker), Samuel, George and Franklin Leaphart; and his brothers-in-law, Robert Jones and Rev. Charles Hudson.

He is survived by: his children, Melissa Michelle Leaphart and Eric Dewaune Leaphart (Quinnetta); his wife Barbara Gardner; his grandchildren, Madison, Quinton, Legend of Kimberly, AL and Christopher Leaphart of Locust Grove, GA; his sisters, Mattie M. Hudson and Panzie "Bert" Johnson (Michael) of Charlottesville, VA; and his sisters-in-law, Rosetta Leaphart, Roxie Leaphart and Tiny Younginer. He is also survived by nieces, nephews, cousins, other family members and friends.
