He was predeceased by: his parents, Myrtle H. Vaughan (Myrt) and C. C. Vaughan Distributer; his sister Martha V. Hughes (Henry Hughes) of Loris, SC; his sister-in-law Jackie B. Vaughan; and his niece Vaughan Griffin.

He is survived by: his wife Carolyn P. Vaughan; his children, Christi Vaughan (Troy), Ginger Taylor (Martin), Bill "Buck" Vaughan (Hillarie), Troy Ayer (Catherine) and Tracey Holmes (Alan); his brother Rick Vaughan; his niece Robyn Cain; and his nephew Ryan Vaughan (Billie C. Hammock).
