We announce the death of Gary Allan Funke of Lexington, South Carolina, born in Wichita, Kansas, who passed away on September 30, 2026, at the age of 59. Gary will be remembered by family members, friends, and others whose lives were connected in meaningful ways. He was predeceased by: his father Charles A. Funke, Sr.; his siblings, Charles A. Funke, Jr. and Sandra A. Lyons (John); and his nephew Joseph S. Bell. He is survived by: his mother Lilian M. Funke; his siblings, Larry S. Funke (Susan), Debra A. Whitehouse (Robert) and Barbara A. Bell (Spencer); his nieces and nephews, John J. Lyons, Jr. (Ann), Katie A. Hawes (Ben), Michael C. Lyons, Daniel C. Lyons (Christine), Allison A. Hinds (Shaun), Rebecca L. Whitehouse (Brandon Stirnaman), Andrew P. Bell, Anna Bell Ludwick (Jack), Jessica Raytick (Matt), Julia Kerley (Tim), Lawrence Steven Funke, Jr., Mary Grace Jones (Aaron) and Abbey Funke; and his great-nieces and great-nephews, Sidney, Gloria Grace Lyons, Gabriella, Austin Hinds, Charley Grace, Finn Kerley, Levi, Lewis Jones, Lily, Wesley, Wyatt Raytick, Daniel and Abigail Lyons. He is also survived by family members include 13 nephews and nieces and 13 grand nephews and nieces.
A rosary will be held on Monday, October 5th 2026 at 12:30 PM at the Corpus Christi Catholic Church (2350 Augusta Hwy, Lexington, SC 29072). A funeral Mass will be held on Monday, October 5th 2026 at 1:00 PM at the same location.
