It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Jimmy Perry Smith (Lexington, South Carolina), born in Columbia, South Carolina, who passed away on October 31, 2023, leaving to mourn family and friends. He was predeceased by: his parents, Artie Perry and Ila Mae Smith; his wife Jean Shealy Smith; and his siblings, Broadus Smith and Louise Hite.

He is survived by: his daughters, Sheree Steading (Robert), Karen Buckley (Brian) and Janis Baker (Kevin); his grandchildren, Tony Steading, Ashley Boone (Todd), Heather McCarty (Evan), Deron Burgess (Bethany), Peri and Carli Baker; and his great grandchildren, Hunter Steading, McKenzie Steading, Alyssa Barbee, Joslyn Barbee, Audrey Burgess, Amelia McCarty and Cora McCarty.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Ambassador Baptist College, PO Box 158, Lattimore, NC 28089.

“Brother Jimmy will be missed by myself and all the members of Lighthouse Baptist Church. Brother Jimmy lived an inspirational life. Brother Jimmy led many souls to Christ and until the day he went to be with the Lord, he encouraged others be active in reaching the lost. Our church will be having a love offering this coming Sunday morning and sending the proceeds to Ambassador Baptist College as a tribute to Brother Jimmy.
