He was predeceased by: his parents, James, Sr. Fields and Sadie Portwood Fields; his son Richard Fields; his daughter-in-law Melissa Fields; his grandchild Chandra Fields; and his great grandchildren, Ty Robinson and Asa Robinson.
He is survived by: his wife Betty Ruff Fields; and his sons, Tony Fields (Leslie) and Cliff Fields. He is also survived by 8 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren.
