It is with great sadness that we announce the death of John Gillyard Monroe of Lexington, South Carolina, born in Columbia, South Carolina, who passed away on September 27, 2022, at the age of 65, leaving to mourn family and friends. Family and friends are welcome to send flowers or leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.

He was predeceased by: his parents, Gillyard Percival Monroe, Jr. and Blanche Rabon Monroe of Virginia; and his brother Gillyard Percival Monroe, III. He is survived by: his wife Brenda C. Monroe; his children, Drew Gillyard Monroe (Kelsey) of Lugoff, Misty Monroe Burroughs of Lexington and Chelsea Greiner of Lexington; his grandchildren, Ryann Monroe and Logan Monroe; his cousin William "Billy" Rabon, Jr.; his sisters, Myra Monroe of Elgin and Cynthia Stewart (Don) of Elgin; and his siblings' children, Denise Thomley (David), Hank Goff (Cate) and Ashley Smith (Matt).
