He was predeceased by: his parents, Robert Evan Wheeler, Jr. and Betty Lou Clark Wheeler; and his brother Robert E Wheeler III. He is survived by: his wife Janolyn Atkinson Wheeler; his children, Joseph Cruz Wheeler (Taren) and Brittany Vasquez (Court); his sister Julie O'Neal (Shaun); his stepdaughter Jayla Keese (Tim); his grandchildren, Blakely, Hartley, Harper, Hampton, Riley and Braden; and his sibling's children, Angelica Moses (Tyler) and Robert E Wheeler IV.
