She was predeceased by: her parents, William Ross Tye and Leila Jane Bates Tye; her sister Jane Ross Tye Jordan of Hickory; and her stepmother Dorothy Howard Tye of Perry, Georgia.. She is survived by: her husband Robert Herman Whitaker (Bob); her daughter Tara Whitaker Beldner (Matthew Beldner) of Charleston; her grandsons, Dawson Thomas Beldner and Harrison Cole Beldner; her son Robert Tye Whitaker (Marty Rawl Whitaker); and her grandchildren, Bates, Weston and Rawl of Chapin. She is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Visitation was held on Saturday, September 6th 2025 from 1:00 PM to 2:00 PM at the Mt. Horeb Church (1205 Old Cherokee Rd, Lexington, SC 29072). A celebration of life was held on Saturday, September 6th 2025 at 2:00 PM at the same location. A burial was held on Saturday, September 6th 2025 at the same location.
