He is survived by: his wife Sally Stephens; his children, Sally Stephens Kutyla (Mark) and John Brent Stephens (Sheryl); and his grandchildren, Madison Carver (Mason), Mia Kutyla, Caroline Stephens and Ty Stephens.

A celebration of life will be held on Saturday, November 21st 2026 at 11:00 AM at the Union United Methodist Church (7582 Woodrow St, Irmo, SC 29063).

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the ETV Endowment of South Carolina or any other foundation that supports the field of education or mass communication.
