He was predeceased by: his parents, Roy Gillespy and Mildred Gillespy. He is survived by: his wife Helen; his children, Susan Elizabeth Gillespy (Floyd), Pat Carroll (Elaine), Carolyn Benton (Michael), Michael Gillespy Sr. (Rachelle) and John Gillespy Sr. (Cathy); and his brother Richard Gillespy (Noreen) of Meridian, Idaho. He is also survived by 21 great-grandchildren, 16 grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren; and many other special friends.
Visitation will be held on Tuesday, October 13th 2026 from 12:00 PM to 1:00 PM at the Barr-Price Funeral Home (609 Northwood Rd, Lexington, SC 29072). A celebration of life will be held on Tuesday, October 13th 2026 at 1:00 PM at the same location. A burial will be held on Tuesday, October 13th 2026 at the Fort Jackson National Cemetery (4170 Percival Rd, Columbia, SC 29229).
