She was predeceased by: her brother Mike Thompson; and her parents, Zona Hoover and Algie Thompson. She is survived by: her daughters, Leaving and Kimberly Ackerman (Burns); her son-in-law Fred Ackerman; her grandchildren, Katherine Fickell (Ladonus), Haleigh Ackerman and Ryan Ackerman; and her siblings, Alfred Thompson, Judy Brooks and Rodger Ober (Kim). She is also survived by many extended family members including several nieces and nephews and dear friends.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to the Alzheimer's Association of South Carolina in her memory, supporting the fight against dementia and helping other families navigating this difficult illness.
