He was predeceased by: his parents, Starling Munroe and Bernice Charles Kent; his wife Thelma Kent; his son Timothy Kent; and his siblings, Roy Kent, Marshall Kent, Charles Kent, Maedora Stroble and Faye Oxley.

He is survived by: his daughter Susan Kent of West Columbia, SC; his sisters, Sara Caldwell and Rachel Brady (Jimmy); and his siblings-in-law, Patsy Kent of Spartanburg, SC and Luther Hunter (Julie) of Florida. He is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews.
