He was loved and cherished by many people including: his wife Debra Jean Speares; his sons, Joshua "Josh" Hayden Speares of Lexington and Jacob "Jake" Emanual Speares; his daughter-in-law Ansley; his parents, Margaret "Maggie" King Miller (Tim) and Joe Emanual Speares, Jr. (Evelyn); his grandparents, John, Betsy King of Anderson, Frances Boggs Speares of Irmo and Joe Emanual Speares, Sr.; his sibling's children, Maggie, Kathryn "Kat", Daniel Scott Speares (Olivia), Bailey, Reese, Jennifer "Jenna" Speares Lehman, Crew, Aimee Speares Sanders (Alan), Gracie, Aleigh Jo "AJ", Allison "Ally Cat" Speares Kimberling (Bill), Maddie Collins and Meghan; his brother John Joseph "Josh" Speares; his sister-in-law Sherry Lee Morrison (Richard); his nephews, J. R. and Trevor; his parents-in-law, Pamela Jean Lloyd and Gary Lee Lloyd; his close friends, Lucky of Chip, JES, Nick, Mini, Max, Roscoe, Scooby and Tootsie; JoLynn "JoJo" Speares Hinz (Ty). He was also cherished by friends and neighbors.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that friends and loved ones plant a tree in Ben's honor — a living tribute to his passion for watching things grow.
