He was predeceased by: his sister Dr. Susan. He is survived by: his brother Dr. David Tool; his sister-in-law Sharon; his sibling's children, Ehren and Shannon; his brother-in-law Joe Schwarz; his niece Brenda Schwarz Miller; Devin and Baird Ihme.

In memory of Richard, his family asks that any donations be made to local art programs to foster creativity in the community that Richard loved so much.
