He was predeceased by: his parents, Robert Melvin McWilliams, Sr. and Sarah Emma McWilliams; his sister Dolly Harmon; and his father-in-law Joe Moore. He is survived by: his wife Frances McWilliams; his daughter Haley McWilliams; his grandchildren, Gracie of Lexington and Collin of Lexington; and his sister Daphne Johnson of Florida.

Having served in the Vietnam War with the US Army, he was very proud of his contribution to his country.
