He was predeceased by: his parents, Rev. Miller H. Mellette and Bessie McNeil Mellette of Turbeville; and his son Russell D. Mellette, Jr.. He is survived by: his daughter Tamara M. Edens (John) of Blythewood; and his stepsons, Steve Alford (Donna) of Lexington and Charlie Alford (Denise) of Chapin.
A memorial service was held on Thursday, September 24th 2026 at 4:00 PM at the St. Alban's Episcopal Church (403 Park Rd, Lexington, SC 29072).
