He was predeceased by: his parents, James M. Wingard and Thelma S. Wingard; his brother Reverend Doctor Michael G. Wingard; and his son-in-law Dene Nicholson Jr.. He is survived by: his wife Ann B. Wingard; his daughter Cindy W. Nicholson; his granddaughter Anna Nicholson; his pet NiNi; his sister-in-law Sara Wingard; and his sibling's children, Reverend Chris Wingard and Allyson Willis (Mike). He is also survived by two great nieces; and two great nephews.

Memorials may be made to Green Hill Baptist Church of West Columbia, SC.
