He was predeceased by: his wife Roberta "Bobbie" Godley Kirkland; his parents, Lloyd Kirkland and Alice Craft Kirkland; his stepmother Helen Proctor Kirkland; and his siblings, Annette Kirkland Parnell, Kay Kirkland Gunter, Cynthia Mae Kirkland and Dean Proctor.
He is survived by: his children, Alice Kirkland Dyer and Stancel Edward Kirkland, Jr.; his grandchildren, Sarah Jane Dyer, Jackson Kirkland Dyer and Ethan Lowell Kirkland; and his siblings, Dan Kirkland, Ed Kirkland and Rhonda Kirkland. He is also survived by many nieces, nephews, and cousins.
