He was predeceased by: his parents, Nettie Lee Snelgrove Derrick and Blease Butler Derrick; and his brothers, Brady and Lynwood Derrick. He is survived by: his wife Jeannene Walker; his daughter-in-law Kay; his grandchildren, Jenna, Jonny Bruce, Noah and Abby Derrick; and his sisters, Venola Covington and Leoris Jumper. He is also survived by nieces, nephews, and cousins.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the Manna House, a Food Pantry ministry of Round Hill Baptist Church, 230 Persimmon Lane Lexington 29072.
