He was predeceased by: his parents, Chester F. Smith Sr. and Inez Mullikin Smith; his wife Edna JoAnn Fuller Smith; his grandson Douglas Brooks; and his siblings, Beatrice Player, Carl Lee of Ernest, JB, Frank and Billy Wayne Smith.
He is survived by: his children, JoLynn Shockley (Ronald), Donnie Smith (Sheila) and Ricky Elgin (Tina); his grandchildren, Missy Mitchum Stewart, Danny Mitchum, Michelle Shockley, Daniel Shockley, Justin Smith, Matthew Smith and Jessica Smith Irvin; Avis Spivey. He is also survived by 13 great grandchildren and 1 great great grandson.
