She was predeceased by : her father Earl Patterson; her husband Albert Douglas Gilstrap; her children, Albert Douglas Gilstrap Jr. and Sandra Renee Gilstrap; and her brothers, William Walter Patterson, Carl Edward Patterson and Earl Jackson Patterson.

She is survived by : her children, Donald Jackson Gilstrap and Sheila Renee Gilstrap; her adoptive daughter Lashay Elrod; and her brother Johnny Barton Patterson. She is also survived by 10 grandchildren; and 12 great-grandchildren.
