Though John may no longer walk among us, his spirit lives on in the memories held dear by his family and friends, a guiding light that illuminates their paths in times of darkness.
He was predeceased by: his parents, Lonzie Coates and Maybelle Roberts Coates; his brother Joseph L. Coates; and his nephew Joseph L. Coates, Jr.. He is survived by: his brother Billy Coates (Martha); his sister-in-law Joan Coates; and his niece Alyssa Carter.
