He is survived by: his wife Madelyn; his children, Peter Ortel, Jr. (Henny), Tommy Ortel and Robb Ortel (Jennifer); his grandchildren, Christian Ortel and Lily Ortel; and his siblings, Skip Giacco, Ronald McGinnis, Joe Rodriguez, Edwin Rodriguez, Carlo Rodriguez, Alice Franzella and Andrea Papalexatos.

The family requests memorials be made to Tunnels to Towers.
