He was predeceased by: his father Andrew Martin "Pete" Steele. He is survived by: his mother Margaret Steele of Little River; his wife Pam K. Steele; his daughters, Meghan Penny (Ben) of Coats and Kelsey Hearrell (Tony) of Brigham City, Utah; his granddaughters, Emery Penny and Fenley Hearrell; his brothers, Kevin Steele (Linda) of Edisto Island and Jeffrey Steele of Auburn, Alabama; his nephew Gordon Steele (Melissa); his niece Caroline Steele of Auburn, Alabama; and his pets, Chess and Finnegan.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial donations be made to honor his lasting legacy at Campbell University.
