He was predeceased by: his parents, Phil Poempner and Evelyn Rheem; his wife Barbara Poempner; and his sons, Robert Poempner Jr. and Richard Poempner.

He is survived by: his daughters, Susan O'Brien (James) of Edison and Kathi Owens of Longs; his grandchildren, Kelli, Rene, Ashley, Staci, Bobby, Jodi and Harley; and his great grandchildren, Lily, Mila, Leo, Peyton and Raegan.
